Professor Shane Jimerson of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at UC Santa Barbara participated at the 3rd International Conference of Educational and Counseling Psychology at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Professor Jimerson participated in symposium sessions and also provided multiple workshops for psychologists, counselors, physicians, and graduate students during the conference.
Jimerson provided workshops during the conference that featured essential information to understanding and addressing bullying and also in preparing, preventing, and responding to crises that impact children, schools, and communities. “The Educational Psychology program at the University of Dhaka is working diligently to prepare professionals who will provide leadership to promote the social, emotional, and cognitive competence of all children,” Professor Jimerson noted. “As educational psychology is an emerging field in Bangladesh, there is tremendous potential for their contributions throughout the country.”
As President-Elect of Division 16, Director of the International Institute of School Psychology, and Research Chair of the International School Psychology Association, Professor Jimerson is an active participant in advancing the science and practice of school psychology across the country and around the world.
