Faculty and graduate students from the Gevirtz School at UC Santa Barbara take part in 80 events at the 2008 American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting in New York
Faculty and graduate students from UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz Graduate School will take part in 80 events, panels, poster presentations, and workshops at the 2008 American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting in New York, NY, March 23-28. The scholars, researchers, and teachers will discuss the latest findings on topics as diverse as family, school, and community partnerships; counseling and human development; learning and instruction: technology research; and social context of multiple languages and literacies.

The theme of the 2008 AERA Annual Convention is “Research on Schools, Neighborhoods, and Communities: Toward Civic Responsibility.” The American Educational Research Association (AERA), founded in 1916, is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and evaluation and, by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results. AERA is the most prominent international professional organization, with the primary goal of advancing educational research and its practical application. Its 25,000 members are educators; administrators; directors of research; persons working with testing or evaluation in federal, state and local agencies; counselors; evaluators; graduate students; and behavioral scientists.
