The Harding School Foundation honors Dean Jane Close Conoley of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School at its Celebrate the Arts Event June 8

Dean Jane Close Conoley of UC Santa Barbara’s The Gevirtz School will be honored by the Harding School Foundation at its Celebrate the Arts event on Sunday, June 8 from 3-7 pm at the Montecito Country Club. Conoley is being celebrated as a person who contributes uniquely to the ongoing transformation of the school. Although this is Celebrate the Arts’ fourth year, it is the first year the fundraiser has featured an honoree.

Dean Conoley has been one of the leaders, along with Harding Principal Sally Kingston, of the Harding Early Childhood Initiative (HECI). This partnership among multiple stakeholders is committed to narrowing the achievement gap by developing high quality early learning experience in preschool through second grade. Through HECI, the Gevirtz School has become a significant partner by providing direct support to classrooms. The HECI vision includes an early childhood major at UCSB with Harding as a lab school.

Celebrate the Arts is a fundraising event sponsored by the Harding School Foundation to promote visual and performing arts. Festivities will include a silent auction, a live auction, one or two short musical performances, a brief program including a slideshow about Harding, and a brief talk by Dean Conoley. There will be light hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar.  Ticket prices are $50 in advance and $60 at the door; for tickets and information call 805.965.8994, M-F, 7:30 am-4 pm or go on-line to purchase.

[Jane Close Conoley is available for interviews; contact George Yatchisin at 805 893 5789]
