About / Mar09 / 2009 CCSP Internship Placements

March 17, 2009
For immediate release

11 graduate students in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School placed in prestigious internships

All eleven graduate students in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School who were seeking 2009-10 internships were matched with an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program.

A one-year, full-time, pre-doctoral internship is required of all applied psychology students. Students apply nationally to clinical settings accredited by the APA and then must travel to invited interviews with teaching faculty at those settings. The internship matching program is competitive, with nearly 30% of all students not successfully matched each year.

“The sites where CCSP students matched this year are among the most prestigious in the country and reflect the quality and preparation of our students,” says Associate Professor Steven Smith, Director of Clinical Training at the Gevirtz School. “I am unbelievably proud of what they have accomplished.”

The students and their internship sites are:

Amber Baker – VA Greater Los Angeles HCS Ambulatory Center, Los Angeles, CA
Amy Griffiths – The Help Group, Sherman Oaks, CA
Alexandra Lam – University of Pennsylvania Counseling Center, Philadelphia, PA
Enjey Lin – Stanford Children's Hospital (Child Health), Palo Alto, CA
Roxanna Rahban – Child and Family Guidance Center, Northridge, CA
