The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara's Gevirtz School holds lunch-time Clinical Chat Hour June 4

The Clinical Chat Hour

The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School will hold its final Clinical Chat Hour for the academic year on Tuesday, June 4 in the Gevirtz Boardroom, Education 4108, from 12 noon – 12:50 pm. The series focuses on professional development issues in clinical psychology for the clinical students and Faculty of CCSP.

The June 4th meeting will feature invited guest John Lewis, Ph.D., who will speak with students about his experiences in the field of forensic psychology. Dr. Lewis provides consultation on matters ranging from discrimination and harassment to psychological injury/personal injury, from juvenile delinquency to vocational rehabilitation. After Dr. Lewis’s introductory comments this will mostly be a discussion-based hour, with students being able to ask questions about their areas of interest.

John Lewis, Ph.D., is a Licensed Psychologist with offices in Santa Barbara and Ventura. In addition to his psychotherapy practice, he specializes in forensic psychology and organizational consultation. Lewis completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at George Mason University in 1995. After working for two years in an outpatient mental health clinic, he joined the Psychology Department of the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, a maximum security psychiatric institute in Jessup, Maryland. Working with patients experiencing a broad range of psychiatric disorders, he assessed competence to stand trial, criminal responsibility, malingering, risk for future violence and sexual violence risk. Promoted to Chief of Psychology, he coordinated psychological services throughout the hospital and managed a staff of seven doctoral level psychologists.

Dr. Lewis is licensed as a psychologist in both California and Virginia, and he is credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He maintains membership in the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association and the Santa Barbara County Psychological Association.
