Shane Jimerson of UC Santa Barbara's Gevirtz School presents the Evan L. Brown Lecture at the University of Nebraska

Shane Jimerson of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at UC Santa Barbara recently was honored by the University of Nebraska, Omaha (UNO) in being selected to present the 2012 the Evan L. Brown Lecture. The UNO Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the UNO Evan L. Brown Lecture Series as well as the Nebraska School Psychologists Association, sponsored a series of workshops and presentations concerning school success, early prevention/intervention measures, and the development of children.

Jimerson presented a lecture on Promoting Positive Peer Relationships (P3R), a classroom curriculum designed to decrease antisocial behaviors among students at school. More about P3R – a program no helping students in 36 states and five countries – can be found on the Stories of Us website. Jimerson claims, “The participation of faculty, graduate students, and school psychologists from across Nebraska and throughout the Midwest was inspirational.”

Jimerson continues to collaborate with colleagues and professionals to advance professional development to address student needs related to school violence, bullying, school crises, and generally promoting the social and cognitive competence of all students. Professor Jimerson is a faculty member in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology.
