The McEnroe Reading Clinic at UC Santa Barbara's Gevirtz School announces summer reading program to run July 9 – August 2

The McEnroe Reading & Language Arts Clinic at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School will offer a 4-week summer term for students entering grades 2-4 in the fall. The program begins July 9 and ends August 2, taking place Mondays-Thursdays, 9:00-11:30 am. During session, students will receive small-group reading and language arts instruction and participate in exciting, literacy-based activities.

Parents interested in helping their children maintain their hard-earned academic skills this summer can apply now. The total cost of the summer program is $400. A $25 deposit must be submitted along with the application and will apply toward the total cost of the program. This deposit must be paid by cash or check, payable to UC REGENTS, for the application to be considered. Furthermore, the deposit is nonrefundable for students that receive placement in the program. The McEnroe Reading Clinic uses research-based and technology-enhanced assessment and intervention to improve reading and language skills. The Clinic offers the only University and research-based literacy and reading assessments and interventions on California’s Central Coast, bringing a special focus to children diagnosed with mild to moderate learning disabilities or at risk for learning disabilities. It offers a positive tutorial environment and continuity of learning experiences that nurture students to become life-long readers while helping develop their skills to meet increased reading demands in secondary school.
