About / Nov 11 / CCSP Holds Research Festival November 21

November 18, 2011
For immediate release

The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara's Gevirtz School holds its annual research festival November 21

The graduate students in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) at the Gevirtz School at UC Santa Barbara will hold its annual Research Festival on Monday, November 21 from 9 am – 1:15 pm in the McCune Conference Room (6th floor of HSSB). All sessions are free and open to the public. CCSP strongly values the research endeavor and is committed to training its students to become highly skilled researchers. Therefore, the main purpose of the Research Festival is to provide students an opportunity to share with other students and faculty the findings from research work conducted in their first two years in the program. A second purpose is to help students gain experience in conducting formal research presentations as they continue to develop into professional members of the psychology field. A third goal is to provide an opportunity for students and faculty to reaffirm and further strengthen the CCSP Department as a vibrant research-conducting community (Hence, all first-, second-, and third-year doctoral students are required to attend this event and others are strongly encouraged to attend as well.  MEd/Credential students are encouraged to attend and to use this as an experience to build their skills and knowledge related to their research/evaluation training standards.

The Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology Department is a scientist-practitioner program, one of only 12 programs nationally that is accredited by the American Psychological Association for combined training in all three core substantive areas of psychology.
