About / Sept 10 / Educational technology leadership meeting, Sept. 14 & 15

September 7, 2010
For immediate release

UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School offers a two-day educational technology leadership meeting, September 14 & 15

The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education (GGSE) at UC Santa Barbara will hold a free, two-day educational technology leadership meeting at the new Education Building on September 14th and 15th. The GGSE is inviting superintendents, principals, and leaders from our tri-counties to come participate in seminars and discussions, explore integrated classroom technologies, and visit vendor exhibits. Educational leaders are still welcome to sign-up; please register separately for each event you would like to attend. (Although the events are free, we need accurate attendee counts for both materials and food, so pre-registration is essential.)

September 14 – Reaching All Learners
A one-day immersion in the Apple technologies that help students achieve and thrive in school while building the skills they’ll need to succeed in the workforce. Experience a digital learning environment that serves all students, including those with special education, language, and literacy needs. Learn how Apple helps you support multiple learning styles, enhance collaboration and creativity, and extend learning beyond the classroom. Breakfast and lunch provided. See the flyer and register now.

September 15 – Learning Platforms, Educational Technology Fair & Seminars
Join other leaders discussing the role of technology, exploring the GGSE’s integrated classroom technologies, using student response systems effectively, engaging with the Santa Barbara County Educational Office’s portal, and learning about the newest technologies from a wide range of vendors. Breakfast and lunch provided. See the flyer and register now.

    Seminars on 9/15 include:

  • Troxell & Partners on Learning Platforms.
  • SBCEO Portal Training – Including Lesson Planet, California Streaming, and Hippocampus
  • Using iClickers in the Thinking Classroom
  • Gevirtz School Integrated Classroom Technology – Hands-on training, discussion, and demos with Academic Technology Specialists.
  • Technology in the Classroom: How, When, Where, Why? – A lively group discussion with local educators.

These events are hosted by the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education in partnership with Troxell Communications, the Santa Barbara County Education Office, the Gevirtz School Teacher Education Program (TEP), and Apple, Inc.
