Open Faculty Positions 2012-13

 

Assistant Professor, Educational Policy and Evaluation

Department of Education

The Department of Education invites applications for a ladder-rank faculty position at the advanced assistant level in the area of educational policy and evaluation beginning July 1, 2013. Applicants are sought who have a strong background in education policy research with an emphasis on educational equity and higher education access and completion.

We are seeking an individual who has a record that demonstrates early career excellence in research, teaching, and service, with evidence of relevant extra-mural grant experience. Faculty members in Policy and Evaluation are expected to serve as mentors for students throughout the School and to collaborate with our faculty and research centers. The successful candidate will teach graduate-level courses on education policy and topics in higher education, and additionally, be capable of contributing to courses on topics related to educational evaluation, leadership, organization, institutional transformation, and research methods.

Minimum qualifications: Earned doctorate in education, or related social science fields, a clearly articulated research agenda on higher education equity, access and opportunity, and a record of scholarly publication commensurate with professional experience.

The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity & excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, & service.

Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology

Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology

The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with a specialty in clinical psychology to begin July 1, 2013. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about joining our training program that emphasizes collaborative, cross-disciplinary training with a special focus on diversity issues. Responsibilities will include (a) teaching graduate-level seminars, (b) clinical and research supervision, (c) research and grant-writing, (d) doctoral program advisement, and (e) chairing dissertation committees. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have expertise in clinical assessment, particularly of children with disabilities including autism spectrum disorders. In addition, the candidate will have experience implementing evidence-based treatment for children with disabilities. We expect that this candidate would contribute to UCSB’s outstanding reputation as a leader in the field of disability and autism research/treatment. The candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of the Koegel Autism Center. Candidates are expected to be licensed or license-eligible in the state of California.

The Department has a unique doctoral (Ph.D.) program accredited by the American Psychological Association for combined training in clinical, counseling, and school psychology.  Our primary mission is to train graduate students to be leaders in applied research, and we seek applicants who can contribute to our longstanding commitment to diversity. We prefer applicants with a Ph.D. from an APA-accredited program.

Associate or Full Level Professor, Quantitative Methodology

Department of Education

The Department of Education invites applications for a ladder-rank faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the area of quantitative methodology beginning July 1, 2013. We are seeking candidates with a strong background in quantitative methods research in Education with an emphasis in one or more areas such as: longitudinal analysis, structural equation modeling, Bayesian methods, experimental and quasi-experimental design, psychometrics, measurement, large-scale data analysis, evaluation, and/or hierarchical linear modeling.

We are seeking an individual who has a record of successful grant activity, and excellence in research, teaching, and publication. Faculty members in research methodology are expected to serve as mentors for students throughout the School and collaborate with our faculty and research centers. The successful candidate will be housed in the Department of Education and teach graduate-level courses in introductory and advanced statistics, as well as in research design. Students will be in both applied and theoretical areas. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in developing the quantitative methods area and securing external funding for research in measurement, evaluation, and assessment-related areas that support the mission of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.

Minimum qualifications: Earned doctorate in education, psychology, or related field, an established research agenda and a strong record of refereed publications and obtaining extramural funding.
