Alumni Association Mission
The UCSB Gevirtz Graduate School of Education Alumni Association supports the Gevirtz School and its faculty, students, and alumni, and organizes events for alumni to network with colleagues, current students, faculty members, and friends from the past.
The Gevirtz Alumni Association supports the efforts of the UCSB Gevirtz Graduate School of Education and the accomplishments and interests of its alumni. The Gevirtz Alumni Association:
- promotes the value and importance of education, research, and lifelong learning;
- fosters excellence among students interested in education as a profession and for alumni in our pursuit of ongoing professional development and growth;
- encourages networking and communication among alumni, the University and the community.
The Gevirtz Alumni Association began in 1988 when alumni proposed the idea to Dean Jules Zimmer. Gevirtz Alumni Association members are graduates who earned their teaching credential, M.A., or Ph.D. from the Gevirtz School. They have an interest in staying connected with the school of education, with one another, and with critical issues related to learning, teaching, and research in education. The Gevirtz Alumni Association sponsors activities and networking opportunities in support of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.
