Erika Felix

Assistant Researcher, Ph.D. (DePaul University)

Biography:
Erika Felix, Ph.D. is assistant research faculty at the Center for School-Based Youth Development at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and a licensed clinical psychologist. She serves as program evaluator for Santa Barbara County First Five Commission and is co-principal investigator on the longitudinal research project on school readiness that represents a partnership between Santa Barbara First Five, UCSB, and the Santa-Maria Bonita School District. Other research interests include childhood trauma, peer victimization, positive youth development, and disaster mental health. Dr. Felix received her Ph.D. in clinical-community psychology in 2002 from DePaul University. Dr. Felix’s scholarly publications and presentations are in the areas of school bullying and sexual harassment, violence prevention, adolescent parenthood, posttraumatic stress, child welfare, childhood obesity, and program evaluation. Dr. Felix has lectured locally and internationally on education and mental health services for youth, including training local mental health professionals in Sri Lanka post-tsunami on evidence-informed interventions for children coping with traumatic stress. She was awarded a research mentorship fellowship from the Research and Education in Disaster Mental Health program administered by Dartmouth College and the National Center on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder to build her capacity as disaster mental health researcher. Dr. Felix has also taught graduate courses on psychopathology at UCSB and California State University, Northridge, and an undergraduate course at DePaul University on the psychology of women. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the Society for Community Research and Action.
