Composition of the Student Body

Over the past five years, the doctoral program has attempted to maintain approximately equal enrollment of students in each substantive area. The program values and seeks a diverse student body. The new enrollment of ethnic minorities has been 58% of the total enrollment for the doctoral program over the past five years. The doctoral program has also enrolled five students with special needs as covered by ADA. Approximately 9 out of 10 students who initially enroll in the doctoral program complete all degree requirements and receive a Ph.D. Since 1994 the individuals admitted to the program have had the following characteristics:

• 28% had Master's degree
• 63% had GRE combined scores of 1200+
• 3.65 average GPA (undergraduate, upper division)
