Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What types of credential programs does UCSB offer?

A: The Teacher Education Program offers the Multiple Subject (Elementary) California Teaching Credential, the Single Subject (Secondary) California Teaching Credential in the subject areas of English, World Languages, Math, Social Science, and Science with an emphasis in Geoscience, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, and the Preliminary Level I Education Specialist: Moderate/Severe Credential. The Teaching Credential Program is combined with a Master’s Degree in Education. These combined Credential/Master’s Degree programs are designed to provide the knowledge and experience, both academic and practical, needed to begin a teaching career.
