Clara Vaz Bauler
Committee Chair, 2012-2014
Teacher Education Program, Representative
Being part of a group that strives to foster the development of open spaces for discussing and celebrating diversity among all the different people and departments in our school inspires me. Issues of diversity and difference have always been at the heart of my practice as a Ph.D. student and as a teacher in our school. At the Teacher Education Program, I teach many courses that relate to language, culture, and education. As a Ph.D. student, my research examines the relationship between language, learning, and emerging digital media and literacies. Difference and diversity have also been an integral part of my everyday actions and thinking as a multilingual and multicultural human being, who deeply values the "pluralities" of our existence. I hope to be a good and fair representative, and I look forward to working with such a great group of committed people in the GGSE Diversity Committee again!

Anna Shenouda Abdou
Department of Counseling Clinical, and School Psychology, Representative
I am a 3rd year PhD student with an emphasis in school psychology. I became interested in being part of the Diversity and Equity Committee because I believe that the development of culturally competent helping professionals is vital for the communities and the educational institutions we serve. The training process of becoming a helping professional is difficult and comes with significant responsibility. Being part of this committee allows me to contribute to this important area of development for our department, university, and community.

Dr. Heidi Zetzer
Hosford Counseling & Psychological Services Clinic, Director & CCSP Lecturer
I became part of the GGSE Diversity & Equity Committee because I am committed to building and sustaining a multicultural community that aims to eliminate structural inequities, enrich relationships, promote fairness, and contribute to the continued development of a diverse and democratic society. Participation in this committee has allowed me to become a part of a collective effort to enrich the GGSE by: a) creating avenues for greater communication across departments and programs and among students, faculty, and staff, b) inviting, designing, and offering educational experiences that foster insight and provide opportunities to learn new skills, and c) bringing members of our community together to share perspectives and learn from each other. I love learning from other people. I feel grateful for my participation in this group.
