The Gevirtz School sees no separation of Town and Gown. Since our goal is to make education more effective and equatible, we have to have an active presence in our community. Therefore our faculty and students are in local K-12 classrooms, in influential boardrooms, and are inviting community members and local students to our building. The links at left help show some of what we do, while still not including the hours of evaluation of local programs researchers conduct, from criminal justice realignment to First 5 programs. Meanwhile faculty are also active members in various committees and boards such as the Santa Barbara Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the Santa Barbara Children’s Discovery Museum, the Santa Barbara Gang Prevention Task Force, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, United Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County, the Santa Barbara County Psychological Association, and more.
