Tina McEnroe teaching reading

Located in the new Gevirtz Graduate School of Education building at UC Santa Barbara, the McEnroe Reading Clinic will serve as a demonstration site for other universities of how intensive tutoring using research-based and technology-enhanced assessment and intervention can improve reading and language skills.

    • Serving first, second, and third grade school students who are experiencing reading and language difficulties
    • Offering the only University and research-based literacy and reading assessments and interventions on California's Central Coast
    • Bringing a special focus to children diagnosed with mild to moderate learning disabilities or at risk for learning disabilities
    • Sharing resources of the Hosford Clinic's Psychological Assessment Center and the Koegel Autism Center to provide educational and neuropsychological evaluations of clients
    • Offering a positive tutorial environment and continuity of learning experiences that nurture students to become life-long readers while helping develop their skills to meet increased reading demands in secondary school
    • Providing training and supervision for pre- and in-service educators in the use of evidence-based practices to teach reading to students with or at risk for reading disabilities
