This is the webpage for ED240 Education Policy (Fall 2006) taught by
Professor Russell Rumberger, Department of Education, UC
The course provides an introduction to elementary and secondary education policy at the national and state levels. It focuses on the values and assumptions that underlie different types of policies, the political factors that shape their formulation and implementation, and the links between policy and educational practice. The goal of the course is to help students think systematically about education policy and its effects on schools and classrooms. The course assumes a basic knowledge of the institutions and processes of public policymaking.
