Michael Brown was a professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) from 1993-2023. Professor Brown has published numerous articles and book chapters focusing on career and educational development. Also, he has conducted international, national, and regional presentations on the topics of achieving career success and the career development of African Americans and other ethnic and racial minorities. Brown is on the editorial board of the Journal of Vocational Behavior, the Journal of Career Assessment, and The Counseling Psychologist. His current research focuses on demonstrating empirical linkages among social structural variables, cultural variables, social cognitive variables, and career choice and decision-making processes and outcomes. Brown also served as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs of the University of California.
