Community Relations

The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education--Dean Jane Close Conoley, faculty, students, and staff--are vital members of Santa Barbara County, the state, and the international education community:

  • Providing research in best practices to school superintendents, principals, and teachers
  • Providing student teachers for K-12 classrooms to learn from master teachers and to mentor young minds
  • Operating summer institutes in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) disciplines to bring the newest research to master teachers
  • Operating summer institutes to provide expertise for master teachers to integrate Common Core Standards
  • Operating summer institutes for high schools students to develop their interest in joining the teaching profession
  • Providing educational learning and teaching opportunities for international students and international faculty
  • Building essential links and partnerships with the business community and the non-profit sector to create opportunities that will enhance students and their families
  • Bringing Gevirtz School faculty to the community to discuss their cutting edge research that will improve the lives of the community

The Director of Community Relations helps facilitate these vital links between the community, the schools, and the university. We need your help to build these bridges. To get involved, please contact Suzanne Oliver, (805) 893-2460, or email
