Amaranta Ramirez earns The Donald R. Atkinson Diversity Enhancement Award for 2021-22. The award honors Professor Emeritus Donald R. Atkinson for his 30 years of service to the profession of counseling psychology. During his tenure, Atkinson was dedicated to making the Gevirtz School one that is affirming to all. The award is given to support student research or a dissertation in the area of multicultural counseling psychology.

Amaranta Ramirez is a doctoral student in the Department of Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology at CSU Dominguez Hills where she was also a McNair’s Scholar. Ramirez is interested in promoting mental health via social media platforms for underserved communities.
