Graduate Program Areas
Education as a field of research is interdisciplinary. There are many defined areas of research expertise from Education faculty across three broad program areas. Learn more about the program areas for our graduate programs, as well as sub-program areas below! You can choose to develop your area of expertise in a particular area of study.
Culture, Language, and Human Development (CLHD)
How do culture and language shape the way we learn and grow? The Culture, Language, and Human Development (CLHD) program area merges anthropology, linguistics, psychology, and sociology to examine human growth across the lifespan—from childhood through adulthood—in real-world cultural and educational settings.
Learning, Teaching, and Teacher Education (LTTE)
How do effective educators transform learning environments? The Learning, Teaching, and Teacher Education (LTTE) program area investigates classroom dynamics, curriculum design, and pedagogical practice. We empower researchers and future educators to advance equitable, innovative teaching methods across diverse settings.
Policy, Program Evaluation, and Research Methods (PPRM)
How do policy decisions and data-driven research transform educational equity? The Policy, Program Evaluation, and Research Methods (PPRM) program area combines rigorous quantitative and qualitative research with institutional analysis. We train scholars to evaluate educational policy, lead organizational change, and drive systemic equity across learning environments."
