The South Coast Writing Project (SCWriP) invites teachers of all grade levels who are interested in designing digital writing projects for their students this fall to a Zoom conference on Friday, June 26, 8:30 am – 3 pm. This year’s theme is Teaching Technology in the Time of Corona.
This free workshop will provide teachers (K-college, all subject areas) with strategies to apply multiple modes of literacy and technologies to create engaging digital writing lessons. Ithaca College professor Dr. Mary Lourdes Silva (SCWriP Fellow '08) will lead the institute and collaborate with guest presenters who are also former SCWriP Fellows. This annual program has introduced new ways of creative/critical thinking and has helped numerous teachers enhance both their and their students’ writing experience in the classroom. Teachers will receive individualized technical and pedagogical support to design a lesson ready for the fall. Teachers can also receive professional development credit for this institute. Teachers only interested in asking questions about virtual teaching and learning should join the institute’s Happy Hour event from 12 pm to 1pm.
The Institute’s sponsor, the South Coast Writing Project (SCWriP), is a network of teachers dedicated to improving student writing by improving the teaching of writing. Directed by Dr. Tim Dewar, they provide professional learning, resources, and expanded roles for teachers throughout the tricounties. SCWriP is an affiliated site of the National Writing Project (NWP) and the California Writing Project (CWP) and has its central office in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.
