TEACHING ASSISTANTS
Teaching Assistant (TA) positions in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) and the Department of Education are assigned based on available funding, student enrollment, and fellowship commitments. These positions are typically 25% time.
Due to funding structures and fellowship commitments, GGSE does not widely advertise TA positions. Most TA appointments are assigned internally, and opportunities for students outside the department are extremely limited.
TA Selection Process:
- TAships are assigned by the Department Chairs based on instructor recommendations.
- Appointments depend on course needs, student enrollment, and available funding.
- Priority is given to students with department-funded fellowships who meet eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for a TA position, students must meet the criteria outlined in the University’s Academic Personnel Manual (APM410) and the UCSB Red Binder. These include:
- Being a registered full-time graduate student enrolled in at least 8 units
- Maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA and making appropriate progress to degree
- Demonstrating academic excellence and teaching potential
