Stand Together – a countywide anti-bullying initiative – will culminate with Santa Barbara area K-8 students sharing their social science projects representing their own strategies to promote inclusivity and to prevent and respond to incidents of bullying at the Stand Together Student Expo on May 25, 4 pm – 5 pm at the Earl Warren Showgrounds. The Expo is free and open to the public.
Through Stand Together, the project’s partners have been empowering thousands of students across Santa Barbara County to foster respectful and welcoming communities while developing interpersonal skills necessary for success in the 21st century.
The program kicked off at a raucous assembly held at La Cumbre Junior High on March 2. That kick off introduced the project’s action steps and inspired students to develop social science projects representing their own strategies to promote inclusivity and to prevent and respond to incidents of bullying.
The assembly promoted Stand Together’s three core actions to reduce bullying:
- Speak Up. Start a conversation about how you feel and ask how others feel too.
- Stand With. Be an upstander to make sure our schools are No Place for Hate®.
- Reach Out. Ask for help from a friend, parent, or adult.
