Assistant or tenured Associate Professor position with expertise in addressing mental health disparities among Black, African American communities to begin July 1, 2023.
We seek applicants who focus on prevention, intervention, or implementation science in African American communities. Applicants may focus on racial trauma, intergenerational trauma, gendered racism, colorism, the promotion of radical wellness and healing, community-based healing, or racial justice as some examples. This position extends CCSP’s tradition of excellence in research and service with historically minoritized groups, including people of color, immigrants, sexual and gender minorities, and other communities. This position reflects national and local demands for professional psychologists considering and responding to racial trauma and mental health disparities. This faculty member will join CCSP faculty to provide leadership for the Healing Space located in CCSP’s Hosford Clinic. The Healing Space provides racially-informed mental health services for Black community members impacted by racial trauma. This faculty member will have opportunities to collaborate with the Center for Black Studies Research and to strengthen CCSP’s tradition of training graduate and undergraduate students of color.
Applicants must complete all requirements for conferral of a Ph.D. or Psy.D. by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with a doctoral degree from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program. It is desirable that candidates will be licensed eligible or licensed as a psychologist in the state of California. The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor with expertise in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders to begin July 1, 2023.
We seek applicants with expertise in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and related developmental disabilities, with a specific focus in the areas of (a) autism assessment (screening, diagnosis, characterization, or outcome measurement) and/or (b) autism intervention (program development, evaluation, or community implementation). The appointed person would also help to expand UCSB’s Koegel Autism Center research programs and further its reputation as a national and international leader in autism-related scholarship and clinical expertise.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Education invites applicants for a Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment/ Assistant Teaching Professor with a commitment to advancing bilingual education and training in preparing K-12 teachers for bilingual classrooms. We are seeking a faculty member who can instruct and supervise teacher candidates in the Teacher Education Program’s Bilingual Authorization in Spanish Program. This candidate will also instruct other courses in the Teacher Education Program and the Department of Education’s graduate and undergraduate programs as needed In the Bilingual Authorization Program specifically, this faculty member will teach courses in bilingual education and bilingual teaching methods, work with local districts to find placements for bilingual teacher candidates, and supervise candidates in their fieldwork. In addition, this faculty member will ensure the program meets all requirements necessary to maintain and grow the program, including meeting accreditation requirements, supporting student and staffing needs, and fostering the expansion of program partnerships. This faculty member will ensure that the course offerings in the existing Bilingual Authorization in Spanish Program meet the Teaching Performance Expectations (TPE’s) as outlined by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing and build or expand existing course offerings to ensure alignment. The faculty member will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues throughout the Department and School of Education to create courses in bilingual and multilingual education, and conduct research.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience teaching diverse learners in Spanish-English multilingual educational contexts and in preparing bilingual teachers. We welcome applicants for this position who have a strong understanding of the historical and current contexts of bilingual education in California, a broad theoretical knowledge of the development of bilingualism and culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogies, and experience working in TK-12 educational settings. We especially value candidates who actively center racial, class, linguistic, and cultural diversity in their teaching and service in order to prepare teacher candidates for teaching in a multilingual society.
The Teacher Education Program (TEP) at UCSB prepares approximately 90 teacher candidates to earn a teaching credential in one of the following areas: multiple subjects teaching (MST), education specialist in extensive support needs (ESN), education specialist in mild to moderate support needs (MMSN), single subject teaching (SST) in English language arts, history social science, math, science, or Spanish. Candidates from each of these programs who are bilingual in Spanish can pursue a bilingual authorization through participation in the Bilingual Authorization in Spanish Program (BASP), which involves coursework and fieldwork in bilingual classrooms. During the pilot year of this program, one-fourth of all students elected to earn this authorization. We anticipate increasing demand for the authorization, and we look forward to further developing the program to meet the growing need for bilingual educators in California. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.
