Valentina Fahler is the recipient of the 2021 Phillip and Helen Green Travel Fellowship. Valentina is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Education with an emphasis in language and literacy. Her research focuses on undergraduate writing and the experiences of students who publish work in academic venues.
The Phillip and Helen Green Travel Fellowship was established in memory of Phillip and Helen Green. The fellowship supports academic conference related travel for graduate students, with a preference for students doing classroom research that supports democratic practices and equity of access for immigrant and second language students from working class backgrounds. An overarching goal of this fellowship is to make visible scholarly work that uncovers effective practices that support students in gaining access to American society.
