The doctoral program in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology is accredited* by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association as a combined psychology program. The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) adheres to a scientist-practitioner training model; therefore, heavy emphasis is placed on developing academic, research, and practitioner knowledge and skills.

The organizing themes that integrate the identity of the department are (a) the values of human diversity and individual differences (b) health and development across the lifespan, and (c) ecological (e.g., family, school, societal) influences on human behavior.

Counseling/Clinical Ph.D. Program
The counseling/clinical doctoral program provides students with both research and practitioner knowledge and skills. The program trains students for academic and research positions, and prepares psychological service providers through teaching, research, and leadership. School Psychology Ph.D. Program
Develop the skills needed to conduct research that informs school psychology best practices, learn how to effectively communicate evidence-supported practices to schools by directly engaging in the role of school psychologists, and develop the skills to become a qualified practitioner as defined by state (CCTC) and national (NASP, APA) standards. School Psychology M.Ed. Program
The M.Ed. program prepares school psychologists to support ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse students and families. These efforts are consistent with the mission of the CCSP department to engage in scholarship and prepare professionals who will foster the psychological well-being and social equity of all people, especially vulnerable populations. UC-HBCU Pathways to the Professoriate in School Psychology Summer Research Program

The Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) is proud to partner with Bowie State University (BSU) for the Pathways to the Professoriate in School Psychology Summer Research Program. 

This 6-week hybridized summer research program is designed to expose up to 5 masters/specialist-level school psychology graduate students (or recent graduates) from Bowie State University to prospective academic careers in research and teaching. 

Certificate of Bilingual School Psychologist

Candidates with bilingual proficiency (oral language, reading, and writing) can complete a specialization in bilingual-culturally responsive school psychology through the Certificate of Bilingual School Psychologist. 

Students who elect to complete the Bilingual Specialization receive training that enables them to provide school psychological services to children in both monolingual and bilingual settings.
