PRE-PROFESSIONAL QUICK LINKS
Request a K-12 Volunteer Placement (current UCSB students only)
Fieldwork Verification Form (use this form to document your volunteer hours)
The Pre-Professional Education Program provides UCSB students the opportunity to volunteer in a local K-12 classroom under the mentorship of a credentialed teacher. It gives those who are undecided about a career in education a chance to see if classroom life is really for them. For those who are committed to the teaching profession, it provides valuable classroom experience and the opportunity to earn pre-professional hours for their application to a credential program, including UCSB's Teacher Education Program.
UCSB students can volunteer by taking an ED practicum course (such as ED 121, 122, 128, 130, or 131), or they can simply volunteer to gain experience.
Pre-Professional volunteers can track their hours using the Fieldwork Verification form, and they can submit this form for documentation when they apply to the TEP or another credential program. Pre-Professionals must adhere to the Volunteer Expectations at all times.
