The Gevirtz School has a limited amount of funding available to students and faculty to use toward the cost of presenting at a conference or meeting. If you have had a presentation or poster accepted for a conference or meeting, you have the opportunity to apply for funds through the dean’s office. These funds can be used to cover the reimbursement of eligible travel and lodging expenses within UC policy for the conference that are not covered by some other source. To be eligible for these funds, student applicants must be registered in at least 8 units and be in good academic and financial standing during the quarter in which the funds are received. The conference must be directly related to the student’s or faculty member's area of study. Applicants must show evidence that they have been selected to present a research paper or poster at a professional conference or meeting.
Up to $400 dollars is available for in-state conferences and up to $600 for out-of-state conferences. The Dean's Travel Grant application must be submitted at least 28 days in advance of the conference.
For more information, or if you have questions about the Dean’s Travel Grant program, please contact Diego Bier at biervalle@ucsb.edu.
The CCSP department offers travel support to graduate students presenting at professional conferences. We have introduced a second review period to accommodate students traveling earlier in the fiscal year. This ensures those traveling in the first half of the fiscal year can receive financial support without waiting until year-end.
These travel grants are available to both PhD and MED students. They emphasize the importance of active participation in presentations to support our research-focused mission.
Grant stipends will be awarded based on the availability of funds, which depend on the number of applicants and the travel destination. Each student is eligible for one award per academic year, and the funds are exclusively designated for conference travel and presentation-related expenses.
