GGSE has a small amount of funding available to students and faculty to use toward the cost of presenting at a conference or meeting. If you have had a presentation or poster accepted for a conference or meeting, you have the opportunity to apply for travel funds through the dean’s office. These funds can be used to cover expenses for the conference (e.g., travel, hotel, poster printing) not covered by some other source. To be eligible for these funds, student applicants must be registered in at least 8 units and be in good academic and financial standing during the quarter in which the funds are received. The conference must be directly related to the student’s or faculty member's area of study. Applicants must show evidence that they have been selected to present a research paper or poster at a professional conference or meeting. Up to $500 dollars is available for out of state conferences and up to $250 is available for in state conferences. The Dean's Travel Grant application must be submitted at least 28 days in advance of the conference. For more information, or if you have questions about the Dean’s Travel Grant program, please contact Diego Bier at biervalle@ucsb.edu.

CCSP issues a call for travel grant applications to be submitted once a year, typically in the Winter quarter.  Students will receive an email from the Program Office when applications are accepted.  Award amounts are based on the conference's location and may vary from year to year based on funding.  For 2023-2024 award amounts were as follows: • $250 Virtual • $450 California • $900 All other U.S. locations (except those restricted by AB 1887), Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico • $1,500 Asia, Africa, Caribbean, Central or South American, Europe, South Pacific.  Students are eligible for one award per academic year, and funds are to be used for the sole purpose of conference travel and presentation.
