Faculty, students, and staff at the Gevirtz School stand in solidarity with all members of our APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) and Asian communities against any form of xenophobia, oppression, and racism. We have been outraged at the horrific and dramatic increase of anti-Asian hate crimes across the nation, and vow to continue our work as educators and applied psychologists by catalyzing the strengths of diversity and ensuring outcomes that are equity-serving and community-engaged.
We share a collective responsibility to speak out against and confront racism and social injustice that aims at dividing our communities, especially when such injustice has long historical and systemic roots. We advise everyone in our campus and local communities to be vigilant against any acts of violence, to hold responsible the individuals and the systems that foster such violence, and to stand with those who’ve suffered. We stand in solidarity with our allies against all forms of white supremacy and racism.
Those of you in the APIDA and Asian communities, we see you and value you.
