Professor of School Psychology in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology, as well as the current CCSP Faculty Graduate Advisor.

Matthew Quirk is a Professor of School Psychology in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP). He is also the current CCSP Faculty Graduate Advisor. 

Dr. Quirk’s research is focused broadly on supporting the needs of multilingual learners in schools, particularly during the preschool and early elementary grades. His research has specifically focused examining children's school readiness, early literacy and language development, and academic engagement and how schools and teachers can better support children’s early needs in these areas. Much of his scholarship is also grounded in strong, long-standing relationships with community partners and local school districts.

Dr. Quirk completed his B.S. in Elementary Education at Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specific focus on Applied Cognition and Development at the University of Georgia. Prior to completing his Ph.D., Dr. Quirk had multiple years of experience teaching at both the pre-k and 2nd grade levels.
