The Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) has named Kirby Welsh, alumna of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, as the next principal of Round Meadow Elementary School. Welsh earned her teaching credential and a Master of Arts in Education from the Teacher Education Program in 2014, and also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UCSB. She spent time teaching biology in Singapore before joining LVUSD as a science teacher at Calabasas High School.
“I’m excited to welcome Kirby to the leadership of Round Meadow,” said Superintendent Dan Stepenosky. “She has tremendous personal and leadership skills and will support the students and staff while helping move the school forward.”
Welsh also expressed her excitement for her new position: “I am so looking forward to joining the Round Meadow Elementary team and continuing my journey as part of the LVUSD family—I am humbled and honored to be working with such an incredible faculty, student and parent population and can’t wait to see what this next adventure brings. I’m so grateful for the educators, colleagues, students and friends along the way who have shaped the educational leader I am today.”
