Christopher Salem, a student in the Department of Education, and Kiara-Nabil Cortez, who is working on her multiple subject teaching credential in the Teacher Education Program, were awarded 2018-2019 Dorman Commons Fellowships.
This fund was established by Dorman L. Commons, who spent eight years on the State Board of Education and three years as the Chairman of the California Commission on the Teaching Profession. It is used to support fellowships of students who are classroom teachers or professional educators returning to work on advanced degrees.
