Chandler Graves has earned his MA in Education, working with Professor Mian Wang. He is a graduate assistant for UCSB Men’s Basketball. He has a BA in Sport Marketing and Management from Indiana University, Bloomington.
GGSE: Tell us a little bit about your MA work on the Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood.
Graves: I was happy to conduct my research study on Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood, an ultra-rare disorder causing paralysis on one or both sides of a child’s body at unpredictable times. There are also other symptoms this creates such as nystagmus, muscle weakness, etc.
I did this study to create more awareness about this rare disorder and open opportunities for discussion on the AHC about what facilities children with this condition are being provided in the classrooms.
GGSE: How has GGSE impacted your passion for education?
Graves: GGSE has impacted my education in multiple ways. The faculty and staff are so ambitious and gave me so many different routes to learn new things. My peers and classmates are so ambitious about their goals and careers, and this gave me the motivation I needed to power through and work as hard as I could!
GGSE: What’s next for you?
Graves: Next for me will be something in basketball. I am still working on hopefully getting into the University of Cincinnati’s basketball program.
