Delwin Carter, a doctoral student in the Department of Education at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School, has received an honorable mention for the 2018-19 UC Santa Barbara Graduate Student Association Excellence in Teaching Award. Carter received his honor at the GSA General Assembly Award ceremony and Dinner on June 4. The GSA Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes graduate students who have shown excellence and gone above and beyond as teachers at UC Santa Barbara.
Delwin Carter is a doctoral student emphasizing in quantitative methods. His advisor is Karen Nylund-Gibson. He received his B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Experimental Psychology at California State University, Northridge. His broad interests include latent variable analysis, measurement, and structural equation modeling. More specifically, his research includes several substantive areas including peer victimization, perceived discrimination, and depression in underrepresented and/or 1st generation populations. Methodologically speaking, his current research involves mediation, replication and effect size in mixture models, measurement invariance, and item-order effects.
