(from l-r): Desirae Martinez and Peggy Lamb.

Desirae Martinez from UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School is the recipient of the 2015 Lamb Family Fellowship. This fellowship, made possible by a generous endowment by Dick and Peggy Lamb, is intended to support beginning special education teachers who are dedicated to a long-term professional commitment of working directly with students and their families in school settings. Martinez is in the Education Specialist Credential program at UCSB’s Teacher Education Program and is also earning her M.Ed.

During her years as a student at UC Santa Barbara, Peggy Lamb worked as a recreation counselor and teacher at Devereaux Schools. She went on to teach in a Special Day class at Franklin Elementary School in the Santa Barbara School District. Most recently she worked as a Resource Specialist for the Hope School District. She also served as long-term chair of the Dean’s Ambassadors Circle for the Gevirtz School. The Dean’s Ambassadors Circle members serve as a resource of ideas and connections to potential partners who are vital to furthering the vision and the values of the Gevirtz School.
