Ellen Perkins was named the recipient of the 2023 Alumni Fellowship in Teacher Education. Generously funded by alumni, the purpose of these awards is to support deserving graduate students in the Department of Education and the Teacher Education Program who show great academic promise and excellence in the areas of research and teaching, respectively. Perkins is working on her multiple subject teaching credential and a M.Ed. in UCSB’s Teacher Education Program.
Ellen Perkins graduated in 2011 from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Mathematics. After working in the clean tech energy industry for several years, she left her job and moved to Cambodia where she fell into teaching. Ellen loves watching how kids learn and develop, and after being a preschool teacher for several years, she is excited to work with elementary age students and foster their love of learning.
