Gina Adam from UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School has been awarded a P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship and a 2013 Lockheed Martin Corporation scholarship for the academic year 2013-2014.

The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada. Adam has been awarded the maximum scholarship amount of $10,000.

Lockheed Martin is an American global aerospace, defense, security, and advanced technology company. The Lockheed Martin Corporation scholarship of $2,000 has been awarded through the Society for Women Engineers (SWE). The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In 2012, SWE disbursed 198 new and renewed scholarships valued at over $575,000.

Gina Adam, a second year MA student in the Department of Education’s focus on Educational Leadership and Organizations, is advised by Dr. John Yun and Dr. Patricia Marin. Adam is also a third year Ph.D. student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at UCSB and a Fulbright Science and Technology fellow from Romania.
