Melissa Rapp

Melissa Rapp, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Education at the Gevirtz School graduate students will compete in the semi-final round of the 2017 UC Santa Barbara’s Graduate Student Grad Slam on Monday, April 17, 11 am - 12 pm in Engineering Science Building, Room 1001. The event is free and open to the public. In these Grad Slam events, graduate students have the chance to tell the campus about their research or share their thoughts on big ideas that matter, in just a three-minute talk. If Rapp succeeds she can make it to the final round and have a chance at the grand prize of $5,000.

Rapp was the People’s Choice winner of preliminary round 4. Her presentation is titled “Getting Teachers to the Highest Grade: Gendered Responses to Evaluations.” Teacher expertise is the most important factor in school quality and student success.
