UC Santa Barbara’s Koegel Autism Center will be offering a Parent Education & Support Group October 4th through November 8th on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30. This six-week program is offered at no charge to families.
Parenting a child on with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents many unique challenges. Come meet other parents who share your experiences, learn tools and strategies to cope with stress, and learn how to navigate public support systems and resources.
Childcare will be provided by trained undergraduate and graduate students.

The Koegel Autism Center is internationally recognized for its innovative autism research and clinical training. Directed by Dr. Ty Vernon, the center focuses on the development and implementation of strength-based, motivational interventions and supports for individuals and families affected by autism spectrum disorders.
Intervention models developed at the center include the Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and the Social Tools And Rules for Teens (START) programs. The center provides diagnostic assessments, intervention services, parent support, and clinical training opportunities through its funded research projects and clinics. We provide research and clinical training to doctoral students in clinical psychology and special education, many of whom have continued on to become highly influential members of the autism research community.
The center was originally founded by Drs. Robert and Lynn Koegel, co-developers of the PRT autism intervention model.
The Koegel Autism Center is part of the University of California, a not-for-profit state institution of higher learning, and housed in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education.
