Currently, we do not accept direct payment from insurance companies. However, we will provide you with the necessary documentation and receipts to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Insurance companies vary in their policies about what services they will cover, so we encourage you to check with your insurance provider first if this is something you wish to do.

CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes are assigned to every service that a physician or mental health professional provides. Insurance companies need these specific codes to process payment and reimbursement claims. All relevant codes will be included on your encounter form (receipt for our services). Our evaluation falls under multiple insurance codes:

97151 Assessment for Treatment Plan Development: Behavior Identification Assessment
97156 Family Adaptive Behavior Treatment Guidance
97155 Adaptive Behavior Treatment w/ Protocol Modification by QHCP
97153 Adaptive Behavior Treatment by Protocol by Technicians (first 30 mins)
97153 Adaptive Behavior Treatment by Protocol by Technicians (add. 30 mins)

In addition, insurance companies will often request the ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases - 10th edition) code corresponding to the patient's medical condition. Autism spectrum disorder falls under the following ICD-10 code:

F84.0 Autism Spectrum Disorder

Families can participate in this program without a referral from a doctor or other professional. However, some insurance companies may require a referral as a prerequisite for reimbursement requests. We recommend looking into your insurance company’s specific policies.

Additionally, an assessment is not required before booking our program. We do, however, require that the child have a diagnosis of autism.

Prior to the appointment, we will have you send in an intake packet as well as a 5-minute video of you interacting with your child. These allow us to tailor the program’s week-long curriculum to the specific needs of your child. Information for this will be emailed to you once you have signed up for the program.

Please submit your intake packet to us along with copies of relevant supplementary materials, including the most recent IEP (Individualized Education Plans), IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plans), and/or past developmental or psychological reports.

The final payment of $500 is also due prior to the start of the first session.

On the first day of the program, parents will complete a one-hour education session, where they will learn the concepts of PRT through presentation slides, video examples, and interactive discussions. The next day, families will participate in a one-hour parent-child hands on PRT coaching session. The next day, parents will have another education session, then, on the next day their will be another parent-child hands on session, and so on and so on. Families are highly encouraged to practice the procedures between sessions and prior to the start of the next day's session. The sessions are each led by 1-2 graduate students with one of our licensed psychologists providing supervision to them throughout the week.

The program is tailored to the unique needs of your child and targets core areas of development, such as social engagement, language development, social interaction skills, flexibility, and behavioral regulation skills. Our unique program utilizes the latest strategies drawn from the motivation-based autism intervention research (Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), Social Tools and Rules for Teens/Transitions (START) socialization strategies, self-management, and positive behavior support).

We encourage all parents, caregivers, and adult family members to participate in our multi-day program.  We cannot easily accommodate siblings and encourage families to make alternative arrangements for little ones to maximize focus on program development.

All treatments are overseen by either our Clinical Director, Anna Krasno, Ph.D, who is a licensed psychologist. or our Center Director, Ty Vernon, Ph.D., who is a licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst. Drs. Krasno and Vernon supervise the clinical team. Our clinical team is composed of doctoral student clinicians with a high degree of expertise and experience in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders. The graduate students are obtaining doctoral degrees in either the Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) program or the Special Education, Disabilities and Risk Studies (SPEDR) program housed in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at UCSB. During each session, your family will be working with 1-2 graduate student clinicians. A schedule of who you will be working with each day will be included in the email containing your schedule.

Drs. Krasno and Vernon are both licensed psychologists who have received rigorous training in state-of-the-art treatment methods for autism spectrum disorder. Both directors completed the requirements for their Ph.D. in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UCSB. During their graduate years, they collaborated closely with advisors Drs. Robert and Lynn Koegel at the Koegel Autism Center, where they worked as researchers, clinicians, parent educators, and supervisors. Dr. Krasno received additional training during a psychology internship at Stanford University.  Dr. Vernon received additional training during a two-year fellowship at the Yale University Child Study Center.

Our Multi-Day Program serves as an interactive program that provides the parent or guardian with PRT strategies from our doctoral student clinicians and licensed psychologists. These strategies are implemented during the program and are meant to be applied after the completion of the program by the parent or guardian who was trained during the program. For this reason, we do not provide additional clinical services outside of the center at this time. We do, however, encourage families to come back to the Multi-Day Program in one or two years' time for updated goals and treatment recommendations. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions!
