Melissa Morgan, CCSP Director of Clinical Training

Eight graduate students from the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School have earned prestigious 2021-2022 internships across the country to complete their work for a Ph.D. Each year, students in their fourth year of doctoral studies compete nationally for APA-Accredited pre-doctoral internships to complete the applied portion of their degrees. As in years past, this year was extremely competitive with over 4,000 students vying for positions nationwide. Melissa Morgan, Director of Clinical Training, notes, “Congrats to all of our fabulous interns. In an especially challenging application year, given the pandemic and all of its ramifications, our applicants shone as always. All of our interns will be at top mental health service sites across the country. They represent CCSP well!”

The eight students and their sites are:

Sam del Castillo: Cal State Long Beach
Alissa Der Sarkissian: Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, Los Angeles, CA
Natalia Jaramillo: Children's Hospital Los Angeles
Anthony Osuna: University of Washington Psychiatry
Adriana Sanchez: University of Illinois Chicago Counseling Center
Gigi Sims: Columbia University Irving Medical Center
Ida Taghavi: New York University Bellevue Hospital Center
Mihya Weber: Dallas Children's Advocacy Center

All the students took part in the APPIC Internship Matching Program that places applicants into psychology internship positions at training sites in the United States and Canada.
The Match is sponsored and supervised by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
