Daniel Holdren, Luke Janes, Jaclyn Jimenez, and Isabella Marill of UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School were awarded 2017-2018 Dorman Commons Fellowships. Holdren, Jimenez, and Marill earned their M.Ed.s from the Teacher Education Program; Holdren also received a special education teaching credential, Jimenez a multiple subject teaching credential, and Marill a single subject teaching credential in science. Janes is a doctoral student with an emphasis in School Psychology working under Dr. Jill Sharkey in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology.

This fund was established by Dorman L. Commons, who spent eight years on the State Board of Education and three years as the Chairman of the California Commission on the Teaching Profession. It is used to support fellowships of students who are classroom teachers or professional educators returning to work on advanced degrees.
