International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies conference logo

Drs. Maryam Kia-Keating and Erika Felix and students from UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School will deliver presentations at the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) annual conference in New Orleans, November 5-7. The ISTSS Annual Meeting is the largest conference of professionals committed to trauma treatment, education, prevention, and research.

Dr. Kia-Keating and Jessica Adams, who work together on the community project Proyecto HEROES, will lead a workshop about trauma with Latino youth. Also, Dr. Kia-Keating, the Gevirtz School’s Dr. Erika Felix, Dr. Turi Honegger, Clinical Director of UCSB Counseling and Psychological Services, and Dr. Gil Reyes from Antioch University, Santa Barbara will hold a “Gaucho Strong” symposium, which examines post-traumatic stress in the context of the May 2013 Isla Vista Tragedy.

Dr. Kia-Keating is an associate professor of Clinical Psychology in the Gevirtz School’s Department of Clinical, Counseling and School Psychology (CCSP). Her work focuses on traumatic stress, especially in children and Latino children and families.
