Lauren Koch and Emmie Matsuno, doctoral students at the Gevirtz School at UC Santa Barbara, have been given Susan A. Neufeldt Awards for Excellence in Clinical Supervision for 2016-17. These awards are for service they performed at the Hosford Counseling and Psychological Services Clinic at UC Santa Barbara. The award is named in honor of a previous director of the Clinic.

Lauren Koch, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology studying with her advisor Dr. Merith Cosden, has worked on several grants evaluating outcomes for adult participants in local Drug Court programs, including a Family Treatment Drug Court and a Veterans Treatment Court.  Her clinical and research interests include trauma and posttraumatic growth, with a specific interest in female survivors of sexual violence.

Emmie Matsuno, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology, works as a research assistant under Dr. Tania Israel studying LGBT mental health. Her clinical and research interests include mental health in transgender and gender non-binary populations.
