Heidi Zetzer

On Sunday, January 19th, the Santa Barbara County Psychological Association (SBCPA) presented Dr. Heidi A. Zetzer with the Legacy Award for her achievements in Mentoring and the Clinical Supervision field of Psychology. SBCPA is a chapter of the California Psychological Association that includes 150 licensed psychologists, registered psychological assistants, and student members in the Santa Barbara County. The goals of this group are to provide psychology resources to the community in regards to disaster response and the aftermath of trauma, as well as implement educational, social, and community service events.

Dr. Anna Krasno, the Clinical Director at the Koegel Autism Center, presented the Legacy Award at the SBCPA Installation Brunch. At this gathering, the SBCPA officer and committee chairs were installed for the new year, and the awards were presented. The individuals honored were nominated by their peers and members of the community. The Legacy Award for Mentoring and Clinical Supervision in Psychology was given to Dr. Zetzer for her contributions to the professional development of students in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP), as many of her past students are now licensed psychologists, and hold leadership positions in SBCPA.

Dr. Zetzer is a Teaching Professor with Security of Employment in CCSP at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education as well as the Director of the Hosford Counseling & Psychological Services Clinic. Not only does she run the clinic, but she also teaches practicum and supervision courses, offers psychotherapy to community clients, and provides education programs on positive psychology, evidence-based practice, cultural competence, and supervision.

She has held many board positions in service to the profession and the community. She is the Past-President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the SBCPA, and is now the SBCPA’s Representative to the California Psychological Association. This is her second time receiving the SBCPA Legacy Award, as she was given this honor in 2011 for her dedication and service to the association and the community.

“It was an honor to be recognized by former students and to witness the many ways that they help people in the Santa Barbara community through their leadership and service,” says Dr. Zetzer.
