Mindfulness for Well-being

These past few months have seen many tragedies within the Santa Barbara community. Some of our UC Santa Barbara students have been faced with trauma in the wake of these disasters, and the Hosford Counseling and Psychological Services Clinic is reaching out. Starting on February 28th and for the following Wednesdays through March 21st, the Clinic will be hosting a 4-week series of group therapy sessions called “Mindfulness for Well-being; Finding Inner Peace in the Wake of Natural Disasters.” These sessions will focus on equipping attendees with the skills to heal and reconnect with individual health and purpose. The group will practice mindfulness by paying attention to and accepting the present moment experience, so that attendees may learn to choose their response to tragedy with awareness and compassion. These Wednesday 6 pm sessions will by guided by Ida Taghavi and Daina Tagavi, clinical psychology doctoral students. The registration fee for this series is very low, and there are scholarships available. For more information and registration, call 805-893-8064 or email ucsbmindfulgroup@gmail.com.
